Sports Academy
FAQ
Monticello Sports Academy offers a year-round comprehensive, annual development program designed to give our students a holistic training approach, providing tools on how to excel in the game of basketball and also in life. We coordinate the entire development process throughout the year.
Q: What is Monticello Sports Academy?
A: This comprehensive program is intended to develop the complete basketball player and give kids in our community the ability to train and play together.

Q: Who is this program for, and what characteristics identify the “committed player?”
A: Monticello Sports Academy is for committed players only, which we define as a player committed to playing on his or her recreational team, travel team, middle school, or high-school team and dedicated to doing what it takes to improve. Attendance is essential to improve, so we ask players to attend at least 65% of their sessions.
Q: How is Monticello Sports Academy different from other basketball training offered?
A: We provide objective and honest feedback and assessment of your child's skill level. We offer relevant, game-applicable training. Not only do we prepare players to compete/dominate at their current level, we also develop and strengthen the player's total game for the future. While developing basketball games, we also develop mental toughness and mental peak performance training as players identify what it is to be an excellent person and leader.
Q: Is this program part of the Monti Center Court Club
A: Although this is a separate programming from the Monti Center Court Club, we partner with the Monti Center Court Club and the Board to ensure we provide the best experience for the children in the community.
Q:Is this a School Program?
A. No

Q: Is This private lessons?
A. Group Training
While private lessons can certainly be beneficial, we believe small group training is far more effective for this comprehensive approach. Athletes still receive plenty of individual attention. Our small groups are skilled and age-based, and we strive to keep our player-to-coach ratio at no more than 6:1.
Q: How do children get placed in training groups?
A. We host monthly evaluations as part of our training season
Q: Will my child get moved from intermediate and advanced or vice versa?
A. Yes, we, as coaches, will be able to discuss with you when we feel your child needs more challenges or when the child would be better suited for a different environment.
Q:Is this Co-ED Training?
A.No this is not co-ed , boys will be playing with boys, girls will be playing and developing with girls

A: OffSeason March – May (Monday, Thursday & Sunday)
Summer June - July (Monday & Thursday)
Preseason August - October (Monday, Thursday & Sunday)
InSeason November - February (Sunday)
The time of Weekly Meeting Sessions is determined by evaluation placement. Times and Days are just suggestions these are subject to change

Q: What does Core Training mean?
A: All our programs start with a foundation training program. We focus on developing the players from the ground up, and this is the foundation for every other course we teach. Every session addresses footwork, ball handling, body positioning, shooting off the pass and dribble, and basketball IQ.
